Centro Cultural Chicano newsletter (1977)

The cover of the first Centro Cultural Chicano newsletter (vol. 1, no. 1, 1977), featuring an image of Chalchihuitlicue. In Aztec religion, Chalchihuitlicue is known as the goddess of water. Centro Cultural Chicano’s newsletter used her image frequently as the organization’s logo, to celebrate the vitality and tenacity of the Chicano people. The newsletter was made available to its members on a monthly basis.
