Biography: 

Erika Busse-Cárdenas is an assistant professor of sociology at Macalester College. Her research examines the experiences of transnational immigrant families who juggle racial, class, and gender hierarchies from both their home country and their country of reception. Building on her ethnographic research on transnational Peruvian families in the US, Busse-Cárdenas' current projects focus on motherhood among Peruvian dancers in the US, Mexican deported mothers, and Peruvian professionals in bi-national partnerships in Belgium. Her work has been published in journals such as Sociology of Race and Ethnicity and Race, Ethnic and Racial Studies, and Diversities.
