Luz has a BA in American studies and educational studies from Macalester College. Her academic interests are primarily in pre-columbian Indigenous history, postcolonial resistance, and sustainable agriculture. She was an editorial assistant for MNopedia at the Minnesota Historical Society between 2019 and 2020.
